DMI Companies, Inc. achieved TRUE Certification status at its Wagoner facility, becoming the second manufacturer in Oklahoma to achieve this certification.

TRUE Certification is a leadership standard that helps facilities and organizations measure, improve and recognize zero-waste performance by encouraging the adoption of sustainable resource management and reduction practices. To become certified, TRUE projects must divert 90% or more of their waste from landfills, incineration (waste-to-energy) and the environment.

Through hard work and immense dedication, DMI’s Wagoner facility diverted 90.4% of waste from landfills during the reporting period from September 2022 to October 2023.

“Sustainability and environmental stewardship are the keys to our success in developing and producing our products and culture,” DMI Sustainability & Environmental Compliance Specialist Edwin Hart said. “This achievement reflects the steadfast commitment that DMI has to environmental responsibility across all our locations and our continued enthusiasm for environmental stewardship.”

Zero-waste to landfill certifications are a relatively new concept in the HVAC manufacturing industry.  Typically, manufacturers are large waste producers, but DMI is among the first in its industry to cease sending waste to landfills through training, audits and hard work from its employees.

DMI’s Wagoner facility is the second among its manufacturing facilities to achieve TRUE Certification status. DMI first achieved TRUE Certification Silver status at its Monongahela, Pennsylvania, facility in 2019. Since then, DMI’s Monongahela facility has maintained and exceeded its certification, achieving Gold Certification status in 2020.

“DMI is committed to a sustainable future for our children and our grandchildren,” DMI CEO and President Ray Yeager said.  “Don’t hesitate; it is critical to take that first step toward a better world.”

This certification is one of many accomplishments in sustainability that DMI has achieved in its more than 45-year history of manufacturing HVAC duct systems and accessories. DMI was founded on the idea that its products should increase the efficiency of the whole HVAC system, establishing a standard practice in commercial HVAC construction that continues today as DMI designs and manufactures energy-efficient products and pursues sustainable business practices.
