LeRoy Metz II practices tax, business, and estate planning law. He also manages the business end of the firm. He takes pride in working with some of the finest people he knows who set the standard for professional ability and ethical conduct.

Throughout his career, LeRoy has represented numerous buyers and sellers in various corporate acquisitions, sales, and mergers. He has assisted clients in shareholder disputes to achieve business settlements to problems and avoid expensive, bitter, and lengthy litigation. LeRoy has represented business from an idea, through incorporation, several rounds of equity and debt sales, and ultimately profitable sales of the enterprise. He has also assisted corporate clients victimized by embezzlement by trusted employees through the recovery of funds and prosecution of perpetrators. Additionally, he obtained numerous IRS agreements to compromise tax debts for a fraction of the liability based upon either an original mistake by the IRS or the taxpayer’s diminished ability to pay. LeRoy also has prevented disastrous estate tax from befalling estates of terminally ill individuals who had no wills by obtaining court appointments of family members as guardians and directing assets to trusts with tax-saving provisions.

LeRoy has many professional affiliations and honors including the following: being listed in 2013 and 2014 editions of The Best Lawyers in America® (Tax Law), listed as “2012 Top Rate Lawyers® in Mergers & Acquisitions® in The American Lawyer and Corporate Counsel magazine, chosen by Pittsburgh Magazine as a Selected Wealth Manager in 2012, named as a Five Star Estate Planning Attorney, recognized as an AV® rated attorney by Martindale-Hubbell peer review, recognized as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer in 2004, Pennsylvania Bar Association, Past Chair and Tax Section of the Allegheny County Bar Association, belongs to the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, was the past President of the Pittsburgh Tax Club, belongs to the Estate Planning Council of Pittsburgh, a Trustee and Past Chair of the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, and is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors. Additionally, LeRoy is on the Board of Directors for the following organizations: DMI Companies, Inc., Zippo Manufacturing Co., W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Co., and Cernostics. He has been a part of the Metz Lewis Broadman Must O’Keefe LLC Executive Committee since 1998 as President and a member.

LeRoy received his bachelor’s degree in 1969 from West Virginia University, received his MBA in 1972 from the University of Utah, and received his Juris Doctor (JD) in 1975 from the University of Pittsburgh.
